Slimbridge completed their Hellenic League Premier season with a victory at Thornhill Park over Longlevens.
Following the game, the presentation of the Championship Trophy saw wild celebrations on and off the pitch, which continued well into the evening.
A crowd of 254 was buoyed by the presence of some great Slimbridge legends, including some who were present the last time the Swans clinched the Hellenic Title crown 19 years earlier. Johnny Meadows, Casey Johnstone, Steve Badham, Robbie Colwell, Marcus and Dug Foxwell, Adam Thomas and Marvyn Roberts were all welcomed back to the club with open arms.
On the pitch, the current crop of names who will go down in Club History were pushed hard by a determined Levens side, who took the lead with just eleven minutes gone through Alex Knight. Huge credit it must be said to Longlevens who gave the Champions a Guard of Honour onto the pitch, such a welcome contrast to the attitude of one of the other teams in the League to their triumph.
However, in first half stoppage time, Bogdam Mara was hauled down in the Levens box as he went for a cross, with Olly Sully converting the resultant penalty to even things up at the break.
Twelve minutes into the second half, a foul on Shiyak Sutherland produced the hosts' second penalty of the game, this time dispatched by Joe Stokes.
As the game developed for the first time into one that felt like the end of the season, Slimbridge played out time to spark some frantic trophy presentation celebrations, which will live long in the memory of all who were there.
The Southern League awaits next time out, although the composition of the League is still to be confirmed.
The Under 18s now only need a single point to win the Cheltenham Youth Floodlit League, which they will be targeting to achieve on either April 27th, when they travel to Longlevens, or the following night, when they play their final game of the season at Thornhill Park (April 28th, 7.30pm), when they entertain Cirencester Town.
This week, they turn their attention to the final of the HFA Giantkillers Club, which will take place on Wednesday at the HFA Headquarters, The SSAFA County Ground in Hereford (Where Hereford Lads Club used to play if you attended that game). Kick off is at 7.45pm.
