The Swans missed the chance to close in on the Title with a disappointing 2-0 defeat to a thoroughly deserving Cirencester Town side.
Attention now turns to tomorrow visit to Tuffley Rovers. Mathematically the Swans still need four points to ensure they cannot be caught, but their impressive goal difference means that three more should do it. The big silver lining from yesterday was Worcester Raiders' defeat, which knocked them out of title contention.
On a miserable windy rainy day, this was never going to be a game for the purists - the teams exchanged chances - Tris Haswell and Jack W Smith for Slimbridge and Jack Horrell and Rhys Wells' dangerous cross which Ieuan Bailey couldn't connect with.
On 18 minutes, Shiyak Sutherland had an effort saved by Ciren Keeper Ronnie Newbery, but two minutes later the hosts were ahead - Slimbridge failed to clear another good cross from Wells, and Harlie Price was on hand to convert.
Price had another effort before the break but was too high with his effort leaving the score 1-0 at the break.
After Slimbridge had made a decent start to the second period, ten minutes in they were two down - Bailey latched onto a through ball that split the Slimbridge back line and he netted with ease past Steve Sarkodie.
Slimbridge had a couple of unconvincing efforts to pull things back, with Sutherland off target on a couple of occasions before Oliie Barnes was just off target as the game came into the last ten minutes, but a late comeback never really looked on the cards.
Still, the good news is that the Swans needed four points for the title on Saturday morning, and due to other results, they still need four points with another game gone.
Onto Monday...
