Roman Glass St. George 3-1 Slimbridge
A game that looked a few months back as if it may become a title decider ended with Roman Glass only confirming their consolation prize of a home play off spot behind the already crowned champions of the League.
For the record, Loui Ward and Laurent Wilson had put the hosts ahead before Jack W Smith pulled a goal back in the 62nd minute. A late stoppage time third from Joe McLennan only reminded Glass of what they could have won, while the Swans left Almondsbury having already won Bully's Special Prize. In another rare twist, Swans Keeper Alex Hammond was sin binned on 83 minutes, leaving Hadyn Evans to take over his jersey in goal for the final few minutes.
With an official attendance of 84 declared, and over half of those being visiting supporters, no doubt Glass will be looking for a huge additional turnout of fans to roar them home for their home play off game next week.
Thoughts now turn to Saturday, and the first promotion party to be held at Thornhill Park since 2007.
The team will be presented after the game with the Hellenic League trophy, and there will be plenty of time afterwards for the celebrations.
Team: Hammond, Bell, Rodgers, Evans, Mara, Ponting (Haswell 65), Shutt (Tainton 53), Stokes, Barnes (Jack Smith 77), Jack W Smith, Sully (Hitchings 88)
