Slimbridge 2-2 Roman Glass St. George
A 98th-minute Roman Glass St. George equaliser meant both sides left Thornhill Park on Saturday with a point apiece.
Jack W Smith reached double figures for league goals this season, chipping goalkeeper Rob Brown from inside the box to open the scoring.
Just two minutes later, Joe Shutt doubled the advantage, latching onto a Raiyan Ahmed cross to record his sixth goal contribution in four starts this season.
Ten minutes before the interval, Nathan Hall turned in a free kick to claw one back for Glass, and in the eighth minute of the six added on at 90 minutes, Owen Punselie was on hand to level the match.
Following a quiet opening 25 minutes, it was the Swans who landed the first blow. Smith broke through the Glass defence and lofted the ball over Brown to make it 1-0.
Two minutes later, Slimbridge's lead was doubled when Ahmed's inviting ball found Shutt, who escaped his marker to chest home a second.
A frantic five minutes continued to deliver big moments, as Glass were awarded a penalty that was well saved by Alex Kovacivic to keep the lead at two.
But four minutes later, the visitors did strike back, Hall curling a free kick over the wall and into the bottom corner. Half-time arrived with Slimbridge leading 2-1.
Midway through the second half, Glass were reduced to ten me when Joe Budd was dismissed for an off-the-ball challenge on Dan Hanson.
Slimbridge looked to take advantage, creating chances on the break, with Smith tirelessly leading the line and going close to a Slimbridge third with a couple of chances.
The Swans' defence held firm going into six minutes of added time, Ponting's display at the back later earning him the Supporters' Club Man of the Match.
But, in the 98th minute, the game drew level when Owen Punselie tapped in a loose ball in front of the goal line.
Up next, the first team travel to take on Cribbs on Saturday October 4th.
