Three goals in eleven second half minutes saw Slimbridge convert their dominance into goals, and secure another vital three points at the Gerald Buxton Sports Ground this afternoon.

After a goalless first period, despite having the bulk of the possession, Slimbridge failed to convert any of their chances. In the second period, however, a quickfire triple from Jack Smith, Jack W Smith and Aaron Evans-Harriot soon put the game to bed on a day when all of the top six clubs in the title race won their games.

A bitterly cold afternoon saw Slimbridge soon settle and start to create chances - Evans-Harriot was too high with an effort in the fifth minute, before Shiyak Sutherland drilled a ball across the Bassett goal with no-one able to get on the end a minute later.

On 14 minutes, Sutherland broke down the Slimbridge left, beat his man and saw his effort drift just wide with Bassett Keeper Callum Godfrey beaten.

As Slimbridge pressed, Jack W Smith saw his piledriver from outside the box pushed for a corner by Godfrey, with the resulting corner being cleared.

The switch of sides for Sutherland and Evans-Harriot nearly paid immediate dividends, as the two combined to create another chance, but Evans-Harriot's effort brought another save from Godfrey.

Bassett had their first real chance of the game on 34 minutes, when Rudi Hopkins was through on goal, but Steve Sarkodie made a superb stop with his feet to deny the Bassett striker, and leave the game goalless at the break.

As the visitors upped the tempo, the chances continued to come - Alex Bell played in Evans-Harriot, whose effort was saved, before the same players corner resulted in a Jack Smith header that was off target.

On 56 minutes, the deadlock was finally broken - Evans-Harriot broke down the left flank, and played in Smith, who drilled the ball home to put the Swans ahead.

Three minutes later, it was two - another quick break from the back saw Jack W Smith left in far too much space, and he made no mistake to notch the second goal.

Bell could have got himself on the scoresheet on 64 minutes, but his effort brought as superb stop from Godfrey, but three minutes later, Sutherland and Evans-Harriot combined well and Evans-Harriot scored a well executed third to kill the game off.

In the last ten minutes Toby Soule saw a header from a corner come back off the Bassett post, before his goal bound effort a couple of minutes later rebounded off both goalposts before Ollie Barnes converted on the goal line, but unfortunately the effort was ruled out with Barnes being deemed offside.

Slimbridge now have a free week before their FA Vase trip to Downton FC next Saturday. All places on the Club Coach and additional Minibus have been filled. The convoy leaves Thornhill Park at 10.30am on Saturday Morning.
