In freezing temperatures, a first half strike from Alex Bell, with further second half goals from Toby Soule and Jack W Smith saw a dominant performance rewarded with three points, and maintained the momentum that was gained from Saturday's win against Hereford Pegasus. Superb performances all over the pitch saw riotous celebrations afterwards in the dressing room, thoroughly deserved. 

In a frantic opening, an early Slimbridge break saw Jack W Smith's effort blocked, while at the other end, Zac Powell, who looked dangerous all night for the hosts, saw his early effort come back into play off the Slimbridge post. 

Westfields were creating the better early chances, and on 12 minutes, Cam Davies was wide with a header from. corner as Westfields applied pressure. 

Once Slimbridge had settled and adapted to the icy conditions, the momentum of the game began to turn - after a sustained period of pressure, the opening goal came on 30 minutes - Jack W Smith made some great space for himself down the Swans right, and his dangerous cross was slammed against the Westfields bar by Jack Smith. The ball rebounded out, but remained in play, and Toby Soule fed Alex Bell, whose lofted effort defeated Westfields Keeper Shay Sterry to put the visitors ahead at the break. 

The second half was only three minutes old when Slimbridge doubled their advantage - Aaron Evans-Harriot's corner was met by the head of Toby Soule, whose salmon-like leap saw him rise above all the Westfields defenders (much to the disgust of their Manager on the touchline) and steer the ball home.

Chances started to be created at both ends - Powell had a very dangerous cross swing across the Slimbridge box with no-one there to take advantage, before Bell was unlucky with two efforts for the visitors. 

in the 57th minute, a Slimbridge corner saw Bogdan Mara just off target and from the restart, a quick break saw Steve Sarkodie make a great save from Powell when he was through one on one to maintain the visitors' lead. 

Powell was by far the most influential of the Westfields front line, and it took a superb tackle from Ryan Ponting to deny him as the home side started to press forward. 

With 61 minutes gone, Slimbridge notched another - a quick break down the Slimbridge right saw Jack W Smith one on one with Sterry and he made no mistake to add the third. 

Bell and Evans-Harriot were both unlikely to have efforts off target, before Sarkodie made another superb stop from Lewis Rose to maintain his clean sheet. 

On 78 minutes, George Clark was again in a dangerous position, but Sarkodie made another great stop which in fact earned him the Home Team's Man of the Match Award.

As the teams played the last ten minutes out, Evans-Harriot and Jack W Smith both had efforts off target, before Joey Shutt's Free Kick was too high with four minutes left on the clock. 

Slimbridge look to maintain their League form when they entertain Mangotsfield United at Thornhill Park on Saturday (November 29th, 3.00pm).

The Under 18s side will make another attempt to play their Severn Sport Cup game at Cinderford Town next Tuesday (December 2nd, 7.30pm) after previous postponements.
