After a week when they suffered their first back to back defeats of the season, firstly in the Hellenic League to Longlevens and then at Westfields in the Floodlit Cup, it was important that Slimbridge reacted in the right way to those setbacks, and they duly obliged at Thornhill Park yesterday.
Leading at the break through Ryan Ponting's goal, a second, a penalty from Aaron Evans-Harriot just after the hour mark, and a stoppage time third from Jack W Smith saw the Swans pick up the win that keeps them firmly in the hunt at the top of the Hellenic Premier League.
An impressive first twenty minutes saw Slimbridge take control of the game, aided by a Man of the Match performance from Evans-Harriot - he had two good efforts blocked and provided an opportunity for Jack W Smith that came to nothing, but in the 19th minute, his corner evaded Pegasus Keeper Matt Gwynne (who struggled with what seemed to be a pre-existing injury throughout the game), and Ryan Ponting was on hand to convert at the far post.
Slimbridge continued to dominate the first period - Joey Shutt had a good effort blocked by a defender, Evans-Harriot played in Jack Smith who saw his initial effort blocked, and then Jack W Smith just off target from the rebound as the Swans dominated.
There were two further chances to increase the lead before the half, but Smith was just wide from a Bogdan Mara Free Kick, and then he was just off target again five minutes before the break.
The second period brought more of the same - Shutt played in Alex Bell on 52 minutes and his effort was just wide, before Bell had another effort too high a minute later.
A superb free kick from Evans-Harriot on 56 minutes brought an equally impressive save from Gwynne, tipping the ball over the bar.
Just after the hour mark, Jack Smith chased down an errant back pass, and was brought down by a combination of the Keeper and the last defender. Referee Joshua Brookland awarded Slimbridge the penalty, and Evans-Harriot drilled the spot kick home to double the home side's advantage.
With twelve minutes left, Jordan Williamson saw his Free Kick come back off the Slimbridge post into play as Pegasus tried to get back into the game.
The last six minutes of stoppage time were filled with further incident - Matt James put a good chance wide for the visitors, before Jacob Rodgers slipped the ball into Jack W Smith, who slotted home for the Slimbridge third goal in the 92nd minute.
There was still time for Swans' Keeper Steve Sarkodie to produce a superb save from Williamson, tipping his effort onto the bar, and Pegasus got a consolation when a piledriver from Kyle Panniers beat Sarkodie all ends up in the fifth minute of stoppage time.
The Swans face two testing League encounters this week - On Tuesday, they travel back to Westfields looking to avenge their Cup defeat last week in a far more important game (November 25th, 7.45pm), and they return to Thornhill Park on Saturday (November 29th, 3.00pm) when they host Mangotsfield United.
