A toothless display from the Swans saw them fall to their third defeat of the season at Saw Mills on Saturday.
It was definitely a case of after the Lord Mayor's show as Slimbridge served up easily their poorest display of the season following the Vase win at Ivybridge last weekend and fell to a defeat in a scrappy game that was never easy on the eye.
A physical game with few redeeming features started with an early booking for Tris Haswell, as he pulled Cam Williams back on an early break. From the resulting Free Kick, Lewis Driscoll was too high for the hosts.
Aaron Evans-Harriot had a couple of early efforts blocked for the visitors, and it took until the 25th minute for the next decent chance to arrive - Jack Smith seeing his effort deflected over for a corner following a shot-cum-cross from Jack W Smith, with the resulting corner coming to nothing.
As the game became more physical, bookings for Jack Beardsell (foul on Haswell) and Driscoll (Foul on Soule) following some robust challenges saw the temperature on the field rise, but the game ended goalless at the break.
Slimbridge made the better start to the second period but were soon dragged back into the war of attrition from the home side. Jack W Smith and then Jack Smith saw efforts blocked as they applied some concerted pressure.
With 57 minutes gone, Jack Beardsell inexplicably kicked the ball away following being penalised for a foul, earning his second yellow card, and putting Longelevens down to ten men.
Despite being a man down, ten minutes later, the home side were ahead - Shikay Sutherland broke down the Slimbridge left and played in Finlay Gwillim, who went through one on one and often the ball over Alex Covacevik to put Levens into the lead.
Slimbridge had one good effort to level things up on 76 minutes, when Drew Brie's superb save denied Raiyan Ahmed, but Slimbridge never really looked like pulling the goal back other than that.
Gwillim had a great opportunity to double the lead on 82 minutes when put through again, but scuffed his effort wide, however the home side held on comfortably to record the win.
