Ivybridge Town 0-5 Slimbridge
Saturday 8th November 2025
Slimbridge powered their way into the Third Round of the VA Vase with a comprehensive five goal rout of Western Premier League side Ivybridge Town at Erme Valley this afternoon.

The damage was done in the first half, with Aaron Evans-Harriot, Charlie Hitchings, Jack Smith and Jack W Smith all scoring to see the visitors dominate before the break.

A fifth penalty goal from Alex Bell in the second half sealed a superbly impressive afternoon for the Swans.

Ivybridge entered the tie looking to progress to the Third Round of the competition for the first time in their history, and started effectively on a bog of a pitch, but as Slimbridge worked their way into the game, they established a dominance they never released.

In the first five minutes, Alex Bell had two efforts foiled before Josh Johnson saw an effort wide for the hosts.

On 16 minutes, the Swans were ahead - a quick break saw Jack W Smith set up Evans-Harriot, and he drilled the ball past Ivybridge Keeper Freddy Garner Harvey-Larmar to put the visitors into the lead.

Six minutes later, a superb Bogdan Mara cross from the left flank was nudged home by the head of Charlie Hitchings to double the lead.

Ten minutes later, with Slimbridge's bright passing play proving so effective, it was three - a superb move involving Evans-Harriot and Jack W Smith set the ball up in the Ivybridge box for Jack Smith, and he made no mistake to record the third.

As the game entered first half stoppage time, the goal of the game (and one of the goals of the season contenders) came from Jack W Smith. A lofted pass from Kian Kang saw Smith collect the ball as it came down for him, with a deft touch, he nutmegged his marker, and then drilled the ball home from a tight angle to put the Slimbridge fans in dreamland.

The second period understandably didn't live up to the drama of the first, although early on, Mara had to clear the ball off the Slimbridge line after Kenechuknu Ogwu's header had drifter over Steve Sarkodie.

Evans-Harriot had a good effort just off target and then saw another effort over the bar as the game developed into a stalemate.

With 12 minutes remaining, a foul on Raiyan Ahmed saw Slimbridge awarded a penalty by Referee Ryan Dennis, and Alex Bell drilled the ball home to seal a very impressive victory.

Slimbridge now await the draw for the next round of the competition, which will be made on Monday.

The first team are on the Road again next Saturday (15th November, 3.00pm), when they travel to Longlevens for a Hellenic Premier League encounter.

The Under 18's meanwhile, are scheduled to travel to Cinderford Town on Tuesday (11th November, 7.30pm) for a Severn Sport Cup tie.
