On Tuesday night, Slimbridge AFC bounced back from Saturday's defeat at Corsham with a 3-0 win over Tuffley Rovers at Thornhill Park.
The opener came in the 37th minute thanks to a moment of class from Joe Shutt. Awarded a free kick just outside the box, Shutt stepped up and drilled a low effort past the wall and into the bottom corner.
Just before the hour mark, Alex Bell doubled the Swans' lead, rounding off a well-worked move down the right-hand side. Theo Browne broke free of his marker and delivered a cross into the area, where Jack Smith's clever touch set up Bell. After a brief scramble, Bell touched the ball over the line.
Nine minutes later Slimbridge sealed the points through Jacob Rodgers. Dan Hanson controlled a lofted pass from Kian Kang over the Tuffley defence before finding Rodgers, who finished smartly with a first-time effort. It rounded off a confident display that lifted the Swans into second place in the Hellenic League Premier Division.
Up next, Slimbridge host Corsham Town at Thornhill Park on Saturday November 2 in the UHL Challenge Cup (15:00 kick off).
As for the Slimbridge 18s, following their 2-2 draw at Bishops Cleeve U18, they face Fairford Town U18 at Thornhill Park on Tuesday November 4 (19:30 kick off).
