Slimbridge 3-2 Corsham Town
Tuesday 24th March 2026
Slimbridge are now four points clear at the top of the Hellenic Premier League after an eventful evening at Thornhill Park.

After a goalless first half, Jack W Smith put the Swans ahead before two goals in two minutes saw the visitors take the lead. But Slimbridge were not to be outdone, and two further goals from Jack W saw an impressive turnaround to claim the points.

Coupled with the fact that Droitwich Spa were held at home by Lydney Town, it was a thoroughly productive evening for the Swans, who extended their lead at the top of the table.

With a gale blowing down the Thornhill Park pitch, and heavy rain gusting throughout the first Half, it was never going to be a pretty game to watch. Playing with the wind, Corsham never really made it work for them - there were a couple of crosses that were dangerous early on, but the game never really settled into any kind of routine.

For the Swans, Olly Sully, Toby Soule and Shiyak Sutherland all had efforts off target, but at the break, the Swans could console themselves with the thought that they had not conceded and they were playing with the wind in the second half.

As conditions eased off slightly, Slimbridge nearly took an immediate lead when Sully's shot rebounded off the Corsham post onto Keeper Ryan Clarke, before going out for a Swans corner that came to nothing.

Jerry Lawrence was off target for the visitors a couple of minutes later as they pressed, but four minutes into the half, the deadlock was broken.

Sully chased down a long through ball and played the ball into the path of Jack W Smith, and he drilled it past Clarke to put Slimbridge ahead. It was also Smith's 50th first team goal for the club.

The lead only lasted five minutes though, and two goals in as many minutes from Corsham turned the game on it's head - Firstly, Theo Jeremy got on the end of a through ball and rounded Steve Sarkodie, netting from a narrow angle with a neat finish.

A minute later, a break down the Corsham left saw Jamal Salawu turn Bogdan Mara before slipping the ball past Sarkodie.

The teams continued to exchange chances, but in the 68th minute, Smith struck again. From about 35 yards out after a neat pass from Sutherland, he took advantage of the weather to drill an unstoppable shot past Clarke to level things up.

Two minutes later, he did it again - a little nearer this time, and although Clarke got his hands on this one, it squirmed under him to put Slimbridge back in front.

Corsham's last real opportunity to snatch an equaliser came shortly after, when Tris Haswell's great block on the line saw him prevent what looked like a certain goal after a bobble on the pitch had caused Sarkodie to miscue a clearance.

In the closing minutes, Smith was denied his fourth by a block and then a deflection which saw his effort deflected for a corner, but after an excruciating period of stoppage time, Referee Joshua Marchant blew the whistle to provoke wild scenes of celebration on and off the pitch.

An even longer wait for the confirmation that Driotwich Spa had dropped points at home to Lydney Town kept the tension levels up well after the final whistle.

The Swans are back at Thornhill Park on Saturday (March 28th, 3.00pm) when they entertain Cribbs.

The venue and date for the HFA Giantkiller Cup Final, with the Under 18s taking on their Cirencester Town counterparts has now been announced. The game will take place at the SSAFA County Ground in Hereford on Wednesday, 22nd April, Kick Off 7.45pm.
