Slimbridge recorded their biggest ever FA Cup win this afternoon, taking on Southern League side Portishead Town and returning from Bristol Road with a 6-2 history-making victory.
On an incredible afternoon for the Club, who were superbly supported all game by their fans who had made the short trip down the M5, Portishead were no match for a determined Swans side, who thoroughly deserved all their accolades.
Jack W Smith, Casey Collins (2), Jack Smith, Leighton Blacker and Jacob Rogers were all on the scoresheet as the squad cemented their place with a little piece of club history.
The Swans now wait for Monday's draw to see who they will face in the First Round Qualifying Round which will take place on August 30th, which means that the home game against Westfields already slated for that date will need to be rescheduled.
It was very lively opening that saw Portishead hit the woodwork in the first minute via a suspiciously offside header, while straight down the other end, Jacob Rogers' cross was Casey Collins effort blocked.
But it only took five minutes for the deadlock to be broken - the ball fell to Jack W Smith on the edge of the Portishead box, and he drilled it home past Keeper Ryan Thacker to give the visitors a shock lead.
The game was still end to end at this point - Jordan Scadding should have done better with his header a couple of minutes after the goal, but on 10 minutes, the hosts were level - Jay Murray was given far to much room to meet a cross and his header gave Swans' Keeper Steve Sarkodie no chance.
But Slimbridge refused to buckle, and five minutes later, they were back in front - Collin's guided his header past Thacker after a great cross from Jack W Smith, and the Swans were back in the lead.
Portishead huffed and puffed, but Lucas Vowles' effort was the sum of their efforts to impose themselves back in the game, and Sarkodie gathered the ball easily.
On 32 minutes, the Swans were in dreamland - Collins picked up a loose ball in the Portishead box and Slimbridge had three.
Just before the break, it got even better - Jack Smith was again left in space after a botched clearance, and he rifled the ball past Thacker to put the Swans 4-1 up.
Jason Quick's header just before the break saw Portishead pull a goal back, but Slimbridge thoroughly deserved their lead at the break.
The expected second half pummelling from Portishead didn't really happen - ex-Swan Toby Lawrence saw an early effort saved by Sarkodie, and the Swans Keeper was up to a good stop from a long range effort from Mitch Osmond, but Slimbridge reached the hour mark without too much difficulty.
Portishead were becoming increasingly frustrated, and the tackling moved up a notch, but it had little effect - in fact, Slimbridge were still creating the better chances, the best going to Collins, who was through on goal to complete his hat trick, but scuffed his shot allowing Thacker to save.
As is proving the case this season, a substitution proved the next talking point - Leighton Blacker came on for Collins, and three minutes later, completely skinned his marker for pace and slid the ball home for the Swans' fifth.
Portishead had a goal ruled out for offside on 83 minutes before Jacob Rogers went on a mazy run and placed the ball past Thacker to record Slimbridge's 6th, as the clock ticked over to 90 minutes.
The final whistle saw massive celebrations from all involved at the club, who realised they had witness a very special afternoon of football.
The Swans travel to Droitwich Spa on Tuesday for a Hellenic League fixture (7.45pm).
On Monday (18th August, 7.30pm), the Under 18's travel to Mangotfield Town for their final Pre-season fixture ahead of their new season.
