Two goals in 90 seconds at the end of the first half ultimately decided the game, but Slimbridge were made to work hard for their victory by a physical Cirencester side, and more than held their own as the game turned increasingly physical. 

The first half was a largely forgettable affair - it took 26 minutes for the first real opportunity to arrive, with Joe Hunt's cross being met by Jonty Welch's head, only to see his effort just off target.

Six minutes before the break, the same two players combined, with Hunt's effort lobbing Cirencester Keeper Ronnie Newbery, but again missing the target. 

As the game crept towards 45 minutes, Slimbridge took the lead - Bogdan Mara decided to try his luck from 25 yards out after being left in space, and his swerving effort beat Newbery to put the visitors ahead. 

The second came a minute later - a Slimbridge break saw Hunt's cross flicked across Newbery by Liam Harper, and Theo Clayson was on the spot to convert from a few yards out and double the Slimbridge lead before the break.

As was to be expected, Ciren came out of the blocks at the start of the second period, and Ross Gabriel had a superb effort just wide a minute into the half which could easily have crept inside the goal. 

After weathering the storm, Theo Clayson created a great opportunity for himself that was just too high, while at the other end, Olly Phillips made a superb stop to deny former Swan Jack Horrell.

As the game entered the final few minutes, Finley Bell's volley was just off target for the home side, but Slimbridge held on for a well deserved victory. 

The Swans are back at Thornhill Park next Saturday (November 9th, 3.00pm) when they entertain Corsham Town in another League encounter.
