Slimbridge recorded a 3-1 League victory over Malmesbury Victoria at Thornhill Park yesterday afternoon, repeating the scoreline from their game in the FA Cup back in August.
Slimbridge were in control for most of the game, and went ahead in the third minute when The Clayson beat Malmesbury Keeper Travis Wood at his near post to put the hosts ahead.
However, Malmesbury hit back, and they were level within nine minutes when Hofer Morten headed home corner from Danny Gudger to level things up.
The Swans reacted well, and managed to hit both posts a few minutes later, as well as having a goal disallowed on 17 minutes when Jack Watts' chip was ruled out for a tight offside.
Four minutes before the break, Watts' shot took a rebound off Keeper Wood and Jack Smith was on hand to convert from short range and put the Swans back in front.
There was still time before the break for Malmesbury went down to ten men, with Gudger dismissed for a dreadful 2 footed challenge from behind challenge on Clayson, with Josh Hughes and Bogdan Mara also being booked in the resulting handbags.
Just before the hour mark, George Evatt was penalised for a handball in the Malmesbury box and Jack Watts penalty found the net via the post to double the Slimbridge advantage.
Slimbridge comfortably saw out the rest of the game to record the victory.
They face an away trip next Saturday when they travel to Highworth Town for another League encounter (3.00pm)
The Under 18 side slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Dursley Town on Thursday, with Josh Barclay scoring their goal. The lads entertain Shortwood United on Tuesday (22nd, 7.30pm) in a League encounter.
