Slimbridge returned from Wootton Bassett with a deserved point after a 2-2 draw this afternoon.
Joey Hunt put the Swans ahead early in the second half before two quick goals from Chris Zebroski and Brad Pagliaroli put the hosts ahead. However, their attempts to slow down and close out the game resulted in eight minutes of additional time, and it was halfway through that period that Toby Soule sneaked home a deserved equaliser.
The first half was largely unmemorable - Bassett had an early corner from their first attack which was cleared, and Pagliaroli had a couple of efforts, one saved and one wide, while at the other end, Josh Barclay sent a superb through ball to Theo Clayson, but he was robbed before he got the chance to get his shot off.
Seven minutes into the second period, the deadlock was broken when Toby Soule's free kick saw Hunt's header loop over Bassett Keeper James Foster to put the visitors ahead.
On the hour mark, Theo Clayson was unlucky after making a strong break following Blackie's superb pass to see his effort drift into the side netting, whole Bassett's best effort came from a Free Kick on the edge of the Slimbridge box, which saw Pagliaroli's effort well saved by Swans Keeper Travis Wood.
The equaliser came from a straightforward header from a corner, when Zebroski climbed highest to head the ball home, and, a minute later, Pagliaroli was given too much space on the edge of the Slimbridge box and drilled the ball past Wood to put the home side ahead.
As Bassett tried to play out time and slow the game down, the deserved equaliser for the Swans came in the fourth minute of stoppage time, when some powerful work from Rhys Sarson saw his effort blocked by Foster, but Toby Soule was on hand to sneak the ball in from from what looked like an impossible angle, to the delight of players, officials and fans alike.
Slimbridge Under 18's are at home to Tuffley Rovers on Tuesday (17th December, 7.30pm), before the first team host Fairford Town next Saturday (21st, 3.00pm). The Swans then travel to Lydney Town on Boxing Day for a game that kicks off at 1.00pm.
