Tribute to 1951-52 team on March 2nd

In the 1951-52 season, a good ten years before Slimbridge formally were gifted the land that is now known as Thornhill Park, the first team achieved a double of Stroud League Division Three and the Gloucestershire Minor County Cup. We are currently, as many of you know, building a club digital archive of information that may have been lost over the years, and are lucky enough to have obtained a photo of that side.
One of that team was Dennis Davis (Fourth from left, back row in the photo).
On Saturday, 2nd March, when we host Mangotsfield United in the Hellenic Premier League, Dennis and his daughter Dawn will be our guests of honour at the game. There will be a photos taken with the current team, with Dennis at the heart of it, as well as a presentation of Slimbridge memorabilia to Dennis.
Dennis deserves to have a wonderful afternoon with us as he represents a massive part of our club's history, so if you see Dennis during the afternoon, please come and say hello, let him know that the club he played for still represents our village in the best way we can, and lets show Dennis that the club he played for over 50 years ago deserves the reputation it has for our hospitality that is unmatched in the League.
