Their most recent win against fourth place Hereford Pegasus has left them just four points off the summit which is occupied by Bishops Cleeve, although the Young Swans do have three games in hand on the Cheltenham outfit.
Success in the league has been matched with performances in the HFA Giantkillers Cup, a 3-2 win at Longlevens U18 has earned them a place in the semi-finals where they will host Worcester City U18.
In the FA Youth Cup, wins over Warminster Town U18 and Clevedon Town U18 helped them reach the Second Round Qualifying, before Chippenham Town U18 ended an impressive cup run.
On top of this, the current campaign has provided some of the youth side with valuable first team experience.
Will Tainton, Harry Reynolds and Theo Clayson have featured in recent first team squads whilst Jack Smith made his first team debut as a substitute in the win over Bristol Manor Farm.
Head of Football Development Kevin Russell has shared his thoughts following the youth sides progression this season.
“We are really pleased with the progression and development being shown across the U18s group this season. All of the group are improving their skills both individually and as part of the team, which is a credit to the maturity and commitment that they are displaying.
“We have some real talent across the squad and I look forward to seeing the boys continue their footballing journey, plus, with a number of players still eligible for next season, we as a department are very happy with both the standards across the group and the structure that we have implemented.”
Up next for the Young Swans is the big semi-final clash against Worcester City U18 on Friday 10th February at Thornhill Park. A fixture which certainly won’t disappoint so, why not come along to support the lads!
