Sol makes another step up..
With the signing of a contract with Maidstone United, Sol Wanja-Smith, when he makes his first appearance for his new club club next season, will become a history maker for Slimbridge AFC, representing the highest level in the football pyramid that a player for the club has ever reached.
Sol joined us for the 2019-2020 season after impressing at Cribbs, and made 21 appearances, scoring 16 goals in the process, before moving onwards and upwards to the Conference South with Hungerford Town, where he has played for the last 2 seasons.
Sol, at that time, with Danny King who is at Gloucester City in The Conference South, and Ryan Beckinsale, who moved to Hungerford with Sol, were the trio of players who were blazing a trail for Swans at Thornhill Park to progress higher up, and Sol has now raised the stakes by moving up a further level.
We are very proud of the structure we are putting in place to allow players to learn and fulfil their potential at Thornhill Park, and everyone here wishes Sol every success in the new season, and we look forward to seeing him in the Football League after his next 'promotion'!
