The FA has finally confirmed the situation regarding promotion and relegation at Step 4.
In our division, as across all Step 4 Leagues, the bottom two clubs will be relegated, with the third from bottom club placed in a pool of all Step 4 clubs who finish in that position to decide, based on points per game, whether they will have to enter a play off game against a Step 5 club.
The top two teams in the Points per game table are reprieved, with the other six teams from Step 4 leagues entering play off matches.
At the top of the table, the previously announced arrangements are still in place - with the top side gaining promotion automatically, and the four sides below them entering a play off scenario, with the two winners of the semi-finals meeting for a winner takes all promotion final.
At Step 3 (in our case, Southern League Premier South), the bottom two clubs will be relegated. The clubs finishing third from bottom across all Step 3 Leagues will be entered into a pool based upon points per game, and the club with the lowest PPG will be relegated.
