With a swirling wind and heavy pitch, the conditions were never conducive to either side playing pretty one touch football.
Slimbridge had a couple of early half chances with Edji Mbunga and Will Hawes having efforts sailing over the bar. Midway through the first half Lewis Adams was called into action to save a close range effort from former Swan Mike Bryant.
A Manor Farm cross from the right saw Aron Robbins header at the far post bounce off the top of the cross bar. A Slimbridge corner was taken short on 32 minutes to Marley Thomas, his cross found Nathan Dennis in the box but he could only direct his header into keeper Ben John’s arms.
A quick break from the corner saw a last ditch tackle from Ben Hands to stop Kyle Tooze from shooting on goal. The resulting corner was headed over by Bryant.
Early in the second half substitute Tyler Jaggers a member of the under 18s making his debut for the first team played a great ball into the middle for Mike Ford to run onto, his shot was saved by John and then Myron Turners follow up fell inches wide.
With the home side trying to press the well organised Swans defence, a series of corners resulted in a good block by Adams at the near post.
As the second half continued, Dennis made a number of important blocks around the visitors box to the frustration of the home side. A late flurry of activity in the Swans box saw Bryant head wide and Adams catching a header from Ben Bament.
A strong defensive performance saw the visitors take home a deserved point, with no less than five current and former products of the Under 18s side gracing the pitch the future for the Swans looks very bright.
