All Hellenic League games postponed tomorrow
Friday 3rd February
All Hellenic League games tomorrow, including Slimbridge AFC v Thame United have been postponed by the League. The League communication is reproduced below.
DUE TO THE ONGOING EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS OF THE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS INVESTIGATIONS HAVE BEEN UNDERTAKEN WITH THE MET OFFICE TO ASSIST IN MAKING A DECISION ON SCHEDULED FIXTURES FOR 4TH FEBRUARY.
Please read the following overview of weather expected from Friday. Today will remain dry and bright with light winds this will lead into the night when a few flurries of snow not dissimilar to recent conditions will occur. These will not produce any accumulations, it will however be very cold with temperatures as low as -8 degrees for parts of the South & South East of the UK. Friday into Saturday will again be the same outlook with dry during the day with a very cold but dry night.
A band of rain moving in from the West is then expected to collide with the very cold air we are currently experiencing in the UK. From Saturday this is likely to result in the rain quickly turning to snow over most parts of the UK and Scotland. Some of this snow could be prolonged and heavy at times. Worst affected is likely to be the North and South East and some more central areas of the UK.
From Midday on Saturday light to moderate snow/sleet is likely to fall for a period of up to 3 to 4hrs. There is a 50-60% probability of accumulations of 3-5cms. However, it is expected that the snow may then turn to rain as the day progresses.
IN VIEW OF THE FOREGOING THE HELLENIC LEAGUE EXECUTIVE HAS MADE THE DECISION TO POSTPONE ALL MATCHES ADMINISTERED BY THE COMPETITION AND SCHEDULED FOR 4TH FEBRUARY.
This communication will be forwarded to all match officials and assessors.
Thank you & enjoy your weekend off,

Wokingham & Emmbrook 1-2 Slimbridge
Saturday 28th January
Slimbridge returned from Berkshire with all three poins in the bag thanks to an injury time winner from Mike Bryant.
After a goalless first half Wokingham took the lead in the 48th min through Jack Broome but the Swans responded well and they showed their true fighting spirit, goals from Marvyn Roberts in the 77th min and Bryant in stoppage time ensured a pleasant journey back home to Gloucestershire.
Wokingham started brightly and attacked the Swans from the start, Ritchie Whittingham was causing problems for the visitors with his pace down the right and he delivered several dangerous crosses which was were well dealt with by the Swans defence.
Slimbridge took time to settle but they gradually started to test the home defence themselves, Alex Higgs fired a couple of shots just wide and Daniel Holloway looked certain to score in the 26th minute when Will Wellon's free kick was headed on by Roberts but Holloway's fierce volley was well saved by Garry Aulsbury in the Home goal.
Two minutes later Wokingham's Shane Cooper Clark found himself with just Dave Evans to beat but a superb last ditch tackle by Wellon denied him a shot on goal.
Slimbridge really should have taken the lead in the 40th minute, Karl Nash's throw in to the penalty area was chested down by Roberts who then fed Higgs with a great pass but the latter shot weakly wide.
In the final move of the half another superb cross from the right by Whittingham was headed inches wide by Matthew Jones ensuring that the first half remained goalless.
It took just 3 minutes of the second half for the home side to take the lead.
Jones ran into the box and was impeded by Ben Wood leaving referee Livingston with the easy option of pointing to the spot.
Jack Broome's penalty kick was superbly saved by Evans who dived to his right but the rebound fell nicely to Broome and he made no mistake the second time round.
This fired the Swans up and they upped the tempo, testing the home side with several good attacks.
Rob Hine had to leave the field with an ankle injury in the 50th minute so manager Leon Sterling brought himself on and played an important role at the heart of the Swans defence, rolling back the years with some astute tackling, Albeit earning himself a Yellow Card with one such Challenge.
In the 62nd minute Evans had to race out of his box to deny Whittington a chance on goal and his long kick upfield was headed back by Ashley Mitchell towards his keeper but Higgs was quick to sneak in and his looped shot over Aulsbury went agonisingly wide.
The game was really opening up now and Wokingham alway's looked likely to score with some swift attacking moves but they found the Swans defence, and Shane Anson in particular, in no mood to let them in.
In the 72nd minute Daniel Holloway gained possession of the ball inside his own half and went on a dazzling run, leaving several defenders in his wake, he then laid a good pass onto Higgs who chose to pass the ball across the box when the better option would have been to shoot, the ball was easily cleared.
Cooper-Clark had the ball in the net in the 75th minute but was ruled off-side.
Two minutes later the visitor's were level, Holloway fed Nash up the left wing, Nash cut inside and delivered a superb cross to Roberts who stabbed the ball home from close range via a defender and the post.
Dave Evans once again excelled in between the posts with some good stops, one in particular from Cooper-Clark in the 85th minute earnt good applause from both sets of supporters.
Just when it looked like both sides would have to settle for a point each the Swans nicked all three.
A surging run from Higgs resulted in him setting up Mike Bryant with a loveley pass and Bryant hit a low left footed first time shot from 18 yards which left Aulsbury no chance, sending the visitor's into ecstatic celebrations and leaving the home side stunned.
Shane Anson was voted 'supporters' man of the match but the whole team can take pride from an excellent all-round performance.
The Swans return home to Wisloe Road next Saturday when Thame Utd are the visitor's. Kick off is 3pm.
Team: Evans, Anson, Cole, Wellon, Hine (Sterling 50), Wood, Holloway, Bryant, Roberts, Higgs, Nash
Goals: Roberts 77, Bryant 90
Slimbridge 0-0 Ascot United
Saturday 21st January
An organised and hard working Ascot United came to Wisloe Road and departed with a well deserved point, on an eminently forgettable afternoon where chances were at a premium. The visitors lost Eric Kusi to a straight red card on the stroke of haltime, but reorganised well and frustrated the Swans, who, had they had more of a cutting edge up front, could have nicked the points.
On another bitterly cold afternoon, it was Ascot who fashioned the first opportunity on three minutes - captain John Bennett won a tussle with Jamie Inch down the left flank, and his shot was turned away for a corner by Swans Keeper Dave Evans at the near post. As the resulting corner skidded across the Slimbridge goal, Ascot Centre Back Liam Woozley, with the empty goal in front of him, somehow contrived to hook the ball clear of the goaline and back into the penalty box, where it was cleared.
Slimbridge responded well to this let off, and Daniel Holloway's surging run down the left flank two minutes later, resulted in a foul on the edge of the Ascot area, but the free kick was wasted. Holloway was beginning to cause problems for the visiting side, and he used his pace to good effect on 14 minutes, with another probing run. His cross found Marvin Roberts well placed, but the Big Man volleyed the ball wide.
Roberts nearly capitalised on a goalmouth scramble on 21 minutes, following Jamie Martin's Free Kick, but again the chance went begging and the ball was cleared.
A good period of pressure from the home side saw Martin's Free Kick lofted over the bar on 22 minutes after a foul on Holloway. Martin continued to feature in the action, and was then booked, along with Ascot's Phil Baddy, after a flare up following a late challenge from Martin.
Dave Hancock saw his shot blocked well by Ben Wood on 36 minutes, while Roberts brought a save from Ascot Keeper Chris Grace with a shot on the turn with 43 minutes on the clock.
On the stroke of half time, Ascot were reduced to ten men, when Eric Kuzi's challenge on Tom Cole was deemed to be two footed by Referee Cunningham, and he brandished a red card for the offence.
As Slimbridge applied pressure at the start of the second period, they had a lucky escape after a quick break from the visitors - Ian Brooks was played through on goal, and was felled outside the Swans Penalty Box by the advancing Dave Evans. After consulting his linesman, the Referee deemed that the Swans Keeper was not the last man, and he escaped with a yellow card. From the resulting free kick, Lee Boon blasted the ball high over.
Ben Wood nearly broke the deadlock as the game approached the hour mark, but scrambled the ball wide after a tussle in the Ascot box saw the ball run free.
Ascot still were not out of it though, and Brooks forced Shane Anson into a good clearance on 77 minutes to keep the scoresheet blank.
The Swans best chance of a goal came with just nine minutes remaining, when Grace was penalised for picking up a backpass, and Slimbridge gained an indirect free kick about ten yards from the Ascot goal. As the visitors contested the decision, the ball was slipped sideways to Holloway, who skied the ball high and wide, in a move which seemed to sum up the afternoon for the home side.
There was still time for Evans to be called into action, making a neat stop after an Ascot corner with seven minutes remaining, and with the game in the third minute of added time, Marvin Roberts failed to convert a chance after Grace dropped the ball under pressure from Micky Bryant.
The Swans travel to Wokingham & Emmbrook next Saturday (3.00pm), before returning to Wisloe Road the following weekend, when they entertain Thame United (February 4th, 3.00pm)
Team: Evans, Anson, Wellon, Hine, Inch, Wood, Ward (Bryant 63), Cole, Roberts, Martin (Nash 53), Holloway
